Minnesota 50501 “Fifty-Fifty-One” is a grassroots, non-partisan 501(c)4 nonprofit organization dedicated to building connections, relationships and bridges across Minnesota - organizing for progressive change - resulting in a stronger, more representative democracy built on community, equity, and justice for all. We provide a space for activists to collaborate, share resources, and mobilize for direct action across Minnesota. Whether you’re looking for protest information, community organizing efforts, or ways to get involved, we’re here to connect and empower you. We want to help people learn effective tactics of resistance and get comfortable using them!

On February 5th, 2025 we gathered as strangers at the Minnesota state capitol in solidarity with all 50 states. Since then, we have become a tight knit community building partnerships, coalitions, and lasting connections throughout the state, the country, and the world.

Together, we have organized and supported major events including International Women’s Day, Hands Off, Earth Day, No Kings, Good Trouble and ICE OUT OF MN.

Through our volunteer network members host trainings, provide aid directly to those in need, support community events, track/respond to ICE activity across the state, and collect/distribute mutual aid.

Minnesota currently has three Chapters: Twin Cities Metro, Rochester and Duluth.

MN50501-Rochester represents the Rochester area team of Minnesota 50501. We organize independently, but coordinate closely with state initiatives to increase the visibility and impact of our actions.

Our Organizers

We are a group of local residents working to protect our communities. We are scientists, students, artists, medical professionals, salespeople, mothers, fathers, partners, daughters and sons. We are a diverse group of volunteers, but united in our commitment to fight back against the assaults on our democracy and basic rights.

We are fighting for a better future, and we need your help. Maybe you want to get heavily involved and help plan our actions, or maybe volunteering at occasional events is more your speed. Maybe you don’t want to volunteer — but you do want to be updated when we have planned actions. There is room for all levels of involvement with us.

Does this sound like work that you want to support? Join our team and help us in the fight! Sign up for our email notifications for upcoming events here.
